talking to someone who is “skeptical” about the domestic policies Obama put forth tonight, and keeps being like “well we’ll see how he executes these great ideas” and I’m like

do you understand even the basics of how our government works?

I mean, it’s actually amazing and impressive how specific Obama was tonight about whether he was working on getting an executive order signed, or had legislation on its way to Congress to be debated, or if he just needed Congress to (you know do their jobs and) write & pass the legislation for him to sign. it’s his job as president (in part) to tell Congress what he thinks they should do and encourage them to put XYZ issues as their priorities for the upcoming year. he can’t actually, you know, execute tax reform, since that is not something it is in his power as president to do.
