I swear to god

the next person in my vicinity who tries to say that, when someone is being a jerk to you, and you respond by openly disliking that person and/or saying “Hey, you’re a jerk,” you are somehow lowering yourself to the jerk’s level

is going to see something like this coming at them

it is not jerky to become angry or annoyed or pissy towards someone who is being an aggressively jerky asshole to you. it’s not. dear everyone, please get off your high goddamn horse and stop acting like it is. stop saying things like “don’t waste your energy” or “don’t bring yourself to their level”.

in fact, I find the whole idea that somehow the morally superior response to jerks is to pretend you aren’t bothered by them to be bizarre. how is tolerating jerkitude the non-jerky response? I’m not saying lose your shit every time a jerk is around, but seriously, letting off some steam with friends later, or even defending yourself from their assholery by rising to the occasion and not letting them walk all over you, is not somehow an assy response. it’s not.

just don’t
