Yes!! Whenever I call out someone for being a jerk my friends are like “Chris is being so judgmental!!1”

it’s the worst thing. people equate politeness (aka quietness, mildness, “polite” language, phrasing any criticisms meekly &indirectly) with respect, so if you react impolitely to an asshole, you are being disrespectful to them.

fun fact: I owe zero politeness to anybody who is being a jerk. another fun fact: I’m pretty sure most of our society’s boner for politeness, gentleness, friendliness, and never-ever-ever-being-hostile-ever-no-matter-what, is actually just a convenient way to make sure jerks get to keep stomping all over everybody else &being assholes without anybody being able to do anything more than maybe saying, “hey that is maybe not very respectful mister,” unless they feel like being even more judged &sanctioned than the actual jerk.

which, if you know me, is not a game I am interested in playing.
