She writes: Goodnight Dune was written and illustrated after I saw this article for Five Sci-Fi Children’s Books on College Humor, linked from a Reddit post which asked for a more fleshed out version of the book. While the original parody art was amazing I decided to stick closer to the original Goodnight Moon art style, using some stylistic elements from the David Lynch movie version of Dune. Go check it. Love. Though, please, no Goodnight Dune Messiah. Mmm shai hulud… This is the perfect bedtime story. This is the most incredible thing I have ever seen, ever, ever, ever. Especially because Chris and I are dorks and we like to, um, say words that rhyme or start with the same letter instead of the word we mean? So I might text “I mouse you” instead of “I miss you,” or something. And anyway one night Chris said “Goodnight, moon,” and I said, “Goodnight, Dune,” and then we started doing exactly this book, saying like, “Goodnight stillsuits,” and “Good night for shai-hulud,” and shit.
