Alabama farmers experiencing a shortage of labor are being offered inmates from the state’s Department of Corrections to help pick produce before it rots, the Montgomery Advertiser reported Friday. Growers blame the lack of workers on the state’s recently enacted immigration law, which they say has caused laborers to leave.
